Alpen Landsturm????

Fantastic picture. Lots going on. A real mixed bag of Bavarians and Prussians. I'm dead keen to see Chip's analysis of it.

On the subject of Landsturm and the Karpathenkorps. Tony has a Landsturmmann with a Karpathenabzeichen (which I've long admired) on Kaiser's Bunker. That fellow is from X Armeekorps.
 
Well, you all seem to be doing quite well without me. From what I can see, it looks like a mixed group of Bavarians. Groups like this posing with weapons normally indicates that it is a training course. The two Blusen in the back row would date the photo as no earlier than late-1916 (the Probe for the Bavarian Bluse was not submitted until October of 1916).

Nice to the the 3.Jäger Rgt. guy in there.

That's about all I can say without some more individual close-ups.
