Some passages of this accompanying "Military Headgear" text with the photo are wrong. It sounds not very trustworthy
The units of what later would become the Alpenkoprs at the Isonzo, had their first fighting experiences in the Vosges. Both Wuertt. as Bav. units. It was General Gaede, of Armeeabteilung B based in the southern Alsace, who requested for ski units, and deployed these unitis for the first time in the Vosges. This Gebirgsschuetzen were wearing caps and not Pickelhaubes models at all!
