Peter do you know why the later US helmet's seem to have deeper bowl? It seem's kinda of obvious , but thought I would ask .

Mark-- deeper bowl? I don't know what you mean. The M1917 and M1917A1 were pretty much the same depth as the Britsh MkI. Could you be thinking of a civil defense or other helmet, including an experimental? Are you thinking of the Liberty Bell... I posted a photo in another thread.
Hey Mark and Peter,I think the deeper bowl is actually a illusion of the photograph, every US helmet I have encountered has the same depth of crown, but on occasion, a helmet looks deeper in photos, I observed this on one ebay sale, and even thought the main photo looked odd, the others looked right.

Sorry peter i think gus may be right , they appear to be deaper in alot of the pics i see.
