An Uberzug from Soissons

Hello

I came back from the Soissons auction with an interesting Uberzug

We cas see the white seam which was done to reduce the size of the Uberzug. The sewing was done at the base of the each side.

The look of the Uberzug is a little strange with an acute angle.

The inner protection if the spikecover is more interesting. In the case of this Uberzug, you won't find the standard sewn leather piece but a simple sewn low quality fabric. The protection against friction is closed to zero as the material is very thin. It is a good example of the shortage of raw materiels in Germany during WWI.
The sewn piece could be done to give the impression that it was an Uberzug as the others.

Very nice congratulations! Any comments on the other items that were up for bidding at the auction?

Hello

There were too many items at this auction. I can speak only of the Uberzugs. All were interesting. The groups helmet+Uberzug reached either high prices (JR 117) either correct prices (JR 119 even if the shape of the Uberzug was curious).
The Uberzug present some very original pieces like this I bought or another with sewn numbers on painted numbers, the wto numbers differents. This case exists and is very uncommon.
The firts Uberzug reached correct prices but the latest reached very expensive price, which is logical, people are always careful withe the first auctions and become mad with the latest.

Whoa! I am taking a couple of these to SOS. I really need to dial up the prices.

Joe,

Not only were the prices formidable, but the shipping was astronomical and I got hit with another $65 in custom's fees.

The final delivered cost wiped out any hope of getting something for a reasonable price.
