The crowned M on the handle and the crowned L on the blade show that it is a Bavarian sword. The M stand for King Maximilian ? of Bavaria and the L for King Ludwig ? of Bavaria. I guess it's Maximillian II and Ludwig I, but it's just my tip. Unfortunately, I cannot say whether it is a Saber (curved blade) or a Pallasch (straight blade), which could help to gather more information about it. Also a pic of the complete engraving on the blade would be helpful.
