And the side posts are brass!!
Even the chinstrap seems to have been artificially aged/rusted...
The only things that could be genuine are the cockades, but then again you never know until you hold them.
This guy doesn't take a break!! :x

Potential buyers should have sufficient background knowlegde to be able to distinguish fake from authenthic helmets. Hence, the idiots that buy this crap are to blame. However, it is sometimes quite difficult to tell whether a helmet is real or not even if you know a few things about them. IMO all serious collectors ought to invest in good refencere books and, when in doubt, seek advice here. The sad thing is that I contacted this seller before (in Dutch as his English seems not too great) about other questionable helmets and tschapkas that he had up for auction in order to express my concern about their authenticity, but he insisted that they were genuine, or never replied.

Best regards,

Edwin

It seems that as usual these sellers are either under the illusion they have the real deal and don't wish to believe they have been scammed or they are frauds. Either way... #-o

To paraphrase Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket, "Better [them] than me." Those poor suckers need to read some books.

I love his collection of helmet covers and tinies :-P

I think our friend SAMA (seeallmyauctions) bought a full container of this junk...

I must admit however that I did scrutinize that Wurt. M15 he just posted hoping that maybe a good one has slipped through the cracks? But then I got the same bad feeling... :-&

B J A IX Isnt that the repair mark for 9 armeekorps. A bit of research could tell you if there were wurts in 9th armeekorps. I havnt got time to look right now as I need to go back to work. I must confess this one dosnt look like a rebuilt fire helmet, tho I havnt spent a lot of time looking.
Maybe its a goodie? What do others think. Strap and kockardes are repro

Andy

P.S. Stitching on front visor looks dodgy

IX armeekorps was part of von Klucks first army at the start of the war and comprised 17 and 18th infantry division, which contained no units from württemberg to my knowledge (primarily from northern Germany, such as: Hamburg, Hannover and sleswich holstein).

Edwin

So if the B.J.A. stamp is refering to Bekleidungs-Instandsetzungsamt des IX Armeekorps (Repair Clothing Depot attached to IX Army Corps) and you are correct that no Wurttemburg were in 9th Army Corps, then it is a put together. I havn`t checked, I`m just assuming you are correct.
The wappen is sitting in holes with grommets, I didnt think that Wurt plates had the same spacing as line eagles for the attachments though again I need to check. I think they have the same spacing as Bavarian plates, which also wouldnt have been in IX corps?
So in other words seeallmyauctions strikes again :)
