Another Garde M15

When it rains it pours as they say. Been looking for a nice one of these for years, and I get two within weeks of each other. I posted the first a couple weeks ago. This one just came in, the hardware is quite a bit darker then the first, could be one of those Chemically darked ones???

Anyway, a nice looking helmet.

Now for the big question!

The Spike is extremely damaged by Shrapnel, but is original to helmet. So do I leave it or replace it with a good one? I know my thoughts, but just curious to see what everyone else thinks?

  • I would leave it as is.Replacing would be very easy-as a guard unit one- the spike has to be removeable,but in this state it has it´s "spirit".Outstanding helmet,congratulation!

Ahh..... you know the answer to that already. :bs:

Remember my Stahlblech Ersatz-Helme with shrapnel damage to the spike? The bottom of the spike has been penetrated, while the upper spike has been struck. Amazingly, the shrapnel is still in place, imbedded into the brass. That is by far the best thing about this example. :love10:

Tony nailed it, I was always planning on leaving it as is! :D ! Was just curious as to what everyone else thought!

One more voice to suggest that you leave it as it is. What a strange impact though!
Nice helmets. I sold a great one not long ago. If I had known... now you would have three!

Hey James,
I disagree with every one, I think that you should remove the spike just below the visors and send the removed part to me, and I will properly dispose of it for you.

James , nice piece , the shrpnel damage tells a tale that just makes the helmet. my only question is it shrpnel for sure ? i do not think it is faked but I was wondering if a spent bullet hit it as the shape seems to have that appearence.
