This is rare, but the price still seems steep.

This helmet already was on auction a few times and never sold. Goofbay gives me a total of $80507.69 for this seller for items NOT sold in the last 90 days. I guess its his way to price them high and wait until someone is desperate.

Concerning the helmet, I wonder why the top shell is so matte?

I know this seller. He thinks Americans and Europeans are all rich fat cats. BUT... if you contact him directly and offer a reasonable price he'll work with you. I offered less than half the eBay opening bid and he accepted it for one helmet.

I've bought a few helmets from him. I don't know where he gets his stuff, but some of his items he doesn't actually own. He's cagey basically. He knows all the dealers in South America so he offers stuff for sale that is for sale somewhere else. I've tracked a couple of things down.

But if it is South American militaria this is the guy that can come up with it. He has some bad with the good. So you have to be careful.

Currently (2010) Argentine pickelhauben run around $1000 to $2000 depending on condition. This only my opinion and based on multiple availiblity on other sites other than Ebay plus what I've paid for them.

Current Chilean pickelhauben should run about $450 and are sold at the Escuela Militar or through the Chilean Military distributor in Santiago.

Is that with the parade plume or just a spike?

The plumed pickelhaube pictured with the Condor within the wreath on the WKC website is for the Bolivian military school.

I tried to contact WKC a couple of weeks ago about their Pickelhauben.
The website says they don't sell to individuals. They didn't even dignify me with a reply.

Let me see if I can use my business name and see if I can get a response from WKC. If not, I'll let you know about my contacts in South America upon my return. Either way I'll hope to get a response.

I wonder if I could get a spike for my current issue Swedish Life Guard helmet.... or even a parade plume!
I posted before, but it didn't show up... maybe we could order a special Pickelhaubs.com helmet design. :D

Just got back from my Latin American trip and saw quite a bit of pickelhauben from Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Staying on the topic, I saw a very nice Argentinian General's Pickelhaube with plume and spike as well as traveling case for $3000. So thats a ball park figure for General's pickelhauben of the Argentinian army.
