As Promised

Gents, this has been a fascinating, well-argued and civilised debate between two guys who may differ in some areas but seem to me to share a passion for increasing their understanding of how men on all sides lived, fought and died, and for preserving their memory.

Hi Pierre and welcome Patrick! I think both Pierre and myself thought we were alone down here.

Im afraid I will need to answer your post tomorrow Pierre. I was half way through a lengthy reply (another one :D ) and my computer decided to reboot itself for an update. Now I need to write it all again and its 2:30 in the morning. I dont understand why it didnt save the page before it shut down. Normally firefox will just restart and restore the previous session.
I have a few points to disagree on (of course) and a few ideas for your dos and dont list, but Im so tired now I cant start to write it all again.
I hope your ok with that and sorry again.

Andy

Well said and also my compliments for the well-argued and civilised debate :D It has been a pleasure to read both your point of views. As an academic, albeit in a completely different field (biochemistry), I can only say that getting funding for biochemical research is not easy and it seems to me that this is far more worse for battle field archeology. It is therefore nice to read that enthusiastic amateurs are taking up this task with a correct moral attitude.

Regards,

Edwin

Andy, Patrick and Edwin. I thought I posted some days ago already my reply. :( But it seems I made a mistake, so, I better do it again. :)
Thank you all, gentlemen, for your kind remarks here. Our discussion is simply based on mutual respect for what connects us and on respect for our differences of opinion. Andy is, happily for me, as thoughtful not to jump into premature conclusions, but he checks first with his counterpartner (?), if he did understand it all well or not, and then he starts to construct his thoughtful arguments. I must say, Andy, I am looking forward to your next reply! :)

Sounds like hurry up Andy and reply Pierre. Dont worry I havnt forgotten. I did try to respond, but as I said my p.c. decided to install updates at 2:30 in the morning. I`m very busy at the moment, fitting the new kitchen I have been promising my good lady for months, so I only have a few minutes here and there to sit down and punch in a few words. I will do my best to respond to you tonight I promise. I have a few ideas and arguments to make that will take me a long time, I want to do them justice and it takes me a long time to do that.
Until then its nice to see that some others have joined the thread, welcome Edwin.

Andy

Andy, it was NOT meant as hurrying you up, more meant as a token of appreciation for your points of view. That's all. I am never in a hurry and I don't expect others to be in a hurry for me. So, take your time, and implement your priorities first. Don't worry, don't hurry, be happy. :D A patient Pierre.
