I have read that a number of those supposed Askari pieces where actually fakes. I don't know much about them but I would ask for more pictures. The fez on the other hand looks authentic.

I hear you John! I had no intention of bidding based on that lousy picture. Somebody sprang for it though.

I just returned from the MAX, which proved something of an eye opener with respect to the number of cobbled, "restored," or faked Imperial items. I was particulary shocked by the number of Weitze's helmets having hex nuts, defaced regimental markings, and additional or enlarged holes. Yuck!

It really is enough to scare one off eBay where the buyer has precious little to go by before committing.
