Athens War Museum

During my recent travels I had the opportunity to visit the Athens War Museum, which was only established in 1975. What a fantastic collection. While some of the ancient and medieval items are copies, and the German WWII paratrooper helmet is post war, the rest of the collection is top-notch!

Various artillery outside the museum.

A WWI Lewis Gun (rear) and a French Chauchat (the worst machine gun ever).

A Russian Imperial Guard Helmet. If anyone wants to get me that helmet I'd trade all my American experimental helmets for it!

Hey Peter,
You knew that you would get a response form me with the worst machine gun ever comment, maybe if the French had added an oiler like the Japanese did, it would have worked better, but it still would not be a bad machine gun, because it was an automatic rifle, the first production assault weapon, and changed the way wars were fought.
Gus
ps looks like you have had some fun travels, glad you made it home safely
