I just picket this up. It was brought to the states after WWII by a U.S. servicemen.

Congratulations! Beautiful helmet.
For me an an iconic helmet. The shape and the interplay of the gold and black parts is impressive. There are certainly rarer helmets, but for me it's an absolute highlight.

Funny how things go, I got a text last night from a buddy who sent me a picture of this helmet asking if I was interested. He said it was for sale for 400 bucks I said are you crazy buy it and by the time he made an inquiry it was gone.

Lovely piece - and they work too! You may not have seen this one from the Military Museum in Vienna. Belonged to James Ritter von Baertling, the Irish born Oberst of the Carl Prinz v Pruessen Kurassier Regiment, injured (but survived) at Konigratz 1866. He kept it as a souvenir of his service!
