Austrian Order of the Iron Crown

Lost Skeleton

I picked up this late war example on a recent trip; bronze gilt with laurels and swords. The manufacturer is Rozet & Fischmeister

For the history this award, I recommend the following link:

The Crown is reinforced inside with a band of iron, hence the name.

Hi

I especially appreciate this rematk:"The Crown is reinforced inside with a band of iron, hence the name"

Indeed, when buying this award, think about checking the presence of this small internal steel ring.

Usually you look at the condition, stamps/markings and munafctures. Don't forget to look below and check this point

All in all, a wonderful order. When a FJ1 order?

2 main materials used to produced this order:

bronze gilded, declared by a stamp on the closed ring: a star
gold, declared by a stamp on the closed ring: a head of chamois

Eric

1. I forgot 1 stamp:

A: Silber

2. I would add:
head of chamois (GesemKopf 3) = 18 carat

3. Some producers: ROTHE, V.MAYER, ROZET u. FISCHMEISTER

Hello Eric:

Thank you for providing the additional information. I have examined the ring, but it is unmarked. However, the order is definitely bronze.

Chas.

Hi Chas

If no stamp "star", it is not a major concern. Putting the stamp "star" was aimed to avoid to mix gold and bronze vergolded !

Once again, a nice order!

Best regards

Eric
