I'm not an expert but is it safe to say this is pretty much junk:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PRUSSIAN-GERMAN-GUARD-UHLANS-HELMET_W0QQitemZ6615371411QQcategoryZ13971QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Wrong cockade with the helmet, pieced together, etc.?

A lot of stuff has prices that are too good to be true! I wonder why! :D

Peter- I purchased one of these from this seller months ago, and returned it the day I got it! Took months to get my money back.

He has been pushing these 0ut like crazy stating they are real, they are not!

Stay away.

"Pushing out" alludes to just what they are. You should have charged him interest on the money, Slim. This is one of the better ones. Does anyone know who actually 'makes' this ill concieved, thrown together dross?

Same here.. The guy sent me a totally bogus item, I returned it. Still trying to get my money back, this is going on 4 or 5 months now. Bad items & horific customer service. 12 thumbs down! :-P

This Rip-Off has been referred to in previous threads. He is also offering a Hungurian army dagger as original WW2 that never existed. Other sites also confirm his fraud. I can't fathom how Ebay can continue to let this go on. Corky

It is a good idea to read a seller's feed back, his feed back lists him as having a 97.3% feed back but that does not reflect the neutral feed back, if you read the neutral feed back you will be able to interperate it as negative (some ebay members will not leave negative feedback as they do not want to get it themselves) by making the correction, this seller would have closer to a 93% feedback, that is a sign that he is not a good person to deal with. I have seen this seller posting post war Swedish canteens as WWI German as well as all the other dodgey items we have seen, ebay will not do anythig to stop this type of fraud, they cover them selves by placing the cavot emptor notice on their pages. The collecting community is a very small one, and it will not be long before this seller has no market. The biggest lesson here is that it is important to do your research before investing in any item that is purchased over hte internet.

I totally agree with you: "The collecting community is a very small one, and it will not be long before this seller has no market."

In fact, looking slowly at the feedbacks is one of the solution to assess if the seller is serious or not.

The Wehrmacht Awards Forum posts a Hall of Shame for some items. I know it gets tricky because we'd have to "borrow" someone's photos. But any sense in posting some examples of bad helmets.

I've seen some of the same helmets time and time again, and not just at the local military shows either!

It might just be me but I swear the last 3 tschapka's have the same finnish and warp to threar of the skullcap.
