With its light fawn basane liner, this is an M15 manufactured new at this date. In this case, in accordance with the incessant orders of discretion of the units not to inform the enemy, the new M15 is never regimented or very rarely. The only ones to be used were the M95s, recycled as M15s, with their old black varnished liner.

I have a similar baden grey in my collection, it is precious to me because it was my first Pickelhaube, bought as a student of around 20 years old, felt like a huge expense back then, was collecting more affordable headgear for some years ( Adrian helmets, Stahlhelm shells etc.), although 32 years later I moved on towards more expensive items, especially fond of cavalry, I will keep my little grey Baden M15 for ever.
