Baden Kugelhelm

Hello, recently I came across this Kugelhelm and I am thinking of buying it. I wanted to ask the opinion of the members of the forum since this will be my first helmet.
Unfortunately these are the only pictures I have access to before purchasing it. (no pics of the insides unfortunately)

Hi,
Doesn’t look good to me, the letters on the Wappen seem to have different sizes and are not properly lined up. Not a good idea to buy a Pickelhaube without seeing the inside. The name of the seller suggests some connection with India, a known source of reproduction Pickelhaubes.

The low quality of the Kokarden and the chinstrap is another giveaway. Officer helmets were high quality items, and I don’t see that here.

Looks like I still have a long way to go. I thought the chinstrap looked a bit off but didn't suspect the Wappen at all. Is there a way I can tell the difference? Also I'll try getting pictures of the inside since I am curious. Thanks for your replies!

Take a look on this helmet, also a Baden artillerie helmet.
I advise you to also look at the website this picture came from, it is by one of our members, Tony Schnurr.

Model 1895 Baden Feldartillerie (Field Artillery) issued Pickelhaube.

You can clearly see the difference between his helmet, and the one you posted. On his website you can get a lot of info about helmets, and other useful things.

I actually looked at that exact page before posting here but the one you linked is a mannschaften model and the one I posted looks like an officers model.

Dont buy anything from India, Often they will use a photo of a real helmet and send you a load of kak. Rob

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this helmet. Everything is ‘approximate’ reproduction. Nothing is consistent in quality and beauty, it looks like... from a distance, but that doesn't fool a connoisseur, from the first second.
