This helmet was high on my most wanted list . \:D/

Stamps ; -- 1888 -- 1907 -- R109 -- II B -- 5 K --size 55 -- and garniture II

Looks like something went true the rear visor … :-k shrapnel ?

Souvenirs label inside ! :hello1: «Vermelle , le 7 Juin 1915 »

Vermelle is a village 10 kilometers north-west of Lens (France)
The 109th was with the 28 division ,55 infanterie brigade/Karlsruhe
They fought battles in Cuinchy, Ablain, Auchy lez-La Bassée, Angres and Arras, all just a few km away from Vermelle…

The helmet is untouched down to its shoestring .
Two extra holes in front, but patched up before the shellac was applied.
Definitely one of my favorites.

enjoy the pix !

Great Helmet. Last time I saw one with a hole in the rear like that, it had been nailed to a post in a Legion Hall.

Excellent helme with great provenance and markings! Congratulations. I also have a helme with a smaller shrapnel hole in the shell to JR 179. I should post some pics.

Thanks :) , and please do ...

Nice looking helmet with a nice provenance! To me the hole looks like it's from a Labelle Bayonet... weren't they 'three sided'?
