Basket Case Felt

Wow
Do you have any history on this felt ?
It traveled almost all the way around the globe .
The only history that I have is that it was bought in Texas by a friend of mine along with my M15 wurttemburg, a bavarian reserve pickelhaube and another Prussian M15 pickelhaube, I bought the wurttemburg helmet and he subsequently sold the rest off as he couldn't afford to keep them. He's actually rather upset that the person he sold it to went against his word and stripped it for parts then sold it.

It has been about a year since I have worked on this felt taking that long to gather parts but I will mark this one as done.
This is the glued joint with base paint.

The original plate that I have gotten for it had a yellow tint almost like tarnished brass so I had to blend the hodgepodge of parts to match using green then brown then yellow washes.
I painted the first color wiped it off leaving traces of paint for all three colors.
I think I got it close

The chinstrap is original and I believe it to be ground dug.
It is hard and brittle and was split and seperated right under the buckel.
That has been repaired and looks to belong on the helmet.
The cocardes are original but the Reichs is missing the white paint but I am cool with that.
The Prussian is pristine.

Thanks guys .
The biggest challenge was finding the rear spine.
The next time I will sand the split edges to get a tighter join.
Thanks again for the kind remarks.

Matthew:

A great piece of restoration work!

If that is the spine I think it is, I'm glad it ended up serving a useful purpose.
