My latest purchase, marked 12 FAR 1916.

These are not seen very often.

The piece needs some reshaping and obviously some bits of paper need to be removed.

Hex spine nut, nice complete liner as well as the typical Bavarian cruciform spike support. Note as well screw posts on the wappen with the usual wing nuts. Again for newer collectors, this configuration is often found on Bavarian helmets with cruciform spikes.

12 FAR 1916. This is a Feld Artillery Regiment formed in 1901 based at Landau, IIAK. I do have an M15 strap and kokarden to complete this helmet. :)

Thanks everyone! Yes James, they come with pearl ring as with your example and without which is what I have.

My M15 Bavarian helmet came with a plain M15 infantry style spike. I was lucky to find a fluted M15 Bavarian spike with the pearl ring a few years ago.

I'll try to add pics of my helmet later today.

I got mine from James.
And very glad to get it, but it also had a line spike.
But it didn't take long before I got the pearled and canned spike.
Can't remember what I payed for it , but it was quiet expensive.....(the spike!)

Congratulations Brian on finding a great helmet, and on top of that, having it unit marked to a field artillery regiment! That's great "icing on the cake", so as to say with unit issue markings!

Best Wishes,

Alan

Here is mine.
With it's original spike witch I got it, and probably the one that was used on the field when judging the patina.
Just noticed a inscription in the neck guard.
Hard to read, but probably related to it's capture, in 1916.
