Jim; I think this helmet was recently offered at the St. Paul military show. Looked good ,price was right but no cash to buy. Glad you got it. Dick

Dick- yes it was, good eyes!

The gentleman is a Thrid Reich collector from North Dakota that I trade with from time to time.

James,

That appears to be a single ring cockade -- what size is it?

When I hear the price was right that tells me the price was very inexpensive!

Joe- the ring is 48mm.

Price? Well this guy has been trying to sell it to me for $1500 for a couple years.

He needed cash for a dagger collection he is buying, lets just say I got it for under $1000 with the case.

Did you both enjoy a cigarette afterwards James?

So that is a Feldwebel Kokarde. Personally, I would call this helmet an Eigetumsstück M1891 as it has the post-1891 chinscales (and post 1897 due to the Reich's Kokarde). It is very unusual to find M91 clip-on chinscales on any Eigetumsstück helmet on any other contingent but Bayern. With Bayern, however, it is very common. There must be something to this?

Tony- yes a good time was had by all 8-)

Thanks for the info on the helmet, I appreciate it, it is an interesting Haube

Congrats James. That is a very nice helme. The wappen is huge! Any chance of getting a shot of the Bavaraian kokarde? I am interested to see what type of silver ring it has. Brian
