Bavarian M1887 Dragoon Lederhelm

I think it is an awesome helmet, and only wish I would have had the money at the time! it sold right away.

Randy and Remy are as good as they come, I am sure the helmet is right on!

I've only seen photographs of these Schweres Reiter Pickelhauben and, therefore, am out of my depth.

The Bayerisches Kokarde on the AOK offering is more elaborate than I am accustomed to seeing. Tony might be able to enlighten us as to significance of the Krone pattern.

There are some pictures of helmets very similar to this one on pages 74 and 75 of the book Die Helme der Koniglich Bayerischen Armee 1806-1918 by Seibold and Schulz.

Differances I see are the all brass trim in the book versus all nickel on Age of kings. The Ludwig Kokarden looks correct.

James,

The helmet is only on hold & still can be purchased, I think ??

The condition of the leather looks remarkable for it's age !!! Could this be
due, in part, to the fact that the Bavarians used better quality leather??

Randy mentions in the description that this is NOT the later police style pickelhaube. Does anyone know the differences? Any photo's of a Bavarian police pickelhaube? I have seen this syle several times before, but can not honestly say which one I was really looking at.
