Bavarian M1915 Officer Pickelhaube??

For a second there, my heart was about to burst when I saw the M15 faux rosettes and the bayonet spike fitting then I noticed at least a couple of flaws...
Looks like this helmet was restaured with the (wrong) (OR/EM) spike base & studs, wasn't it? The spike was bent and then fixed but doesn't the bayonet fitting look weird the way it is now?
Anything else wrong with it (apart from the high asking price)?

I have a bad feeling with this one. They are some things that you already pointed out that don't seem to be correct, and I think there is more, but I cant pinpoint exactly what. I agree that its probably restored.

There are some odd looking things about this, but it would be either wartime or post war manufacture... and this might fit into one of a few categories: Fake; Original with some new parts; All Original with some variations in manufacture which make it unique. I've never seen a fake with the serrated liner 'lobes'. Once it's in your hands, the smell, feel, stitching, etc. will give you a better fell. You can always send it back. Seven day return policy, I'd say give it a try if it seems at least 80% worth it. If it IS original, then it's a nice one.

-My red flag is that the brass seems a bit too bright inside of the fittings... cheap... repro... I also don't like the way the bayonet mount comes off of the base and that there's no wear to the brass in that area.

Yeah, I really don't know... looks too good to be true. A canundrum (sp) to be sure!

Maybe look at some of the repro sites to see if they have anything just like it, but I doubt it.

Hey Ron,
This one's just too expensive IMO... Besides, there should be stars mounting the spike base since this is an officer model.
Anyway, too expensive and I have to prioritize: It's that M15 Lachmann (full option) I need to find first........ :-"

Yup, lots of question marks on this one. On another thread we were discussing if star studs were mandatory or optional for officers (who wouldn't buy them??), but perhaps this was meant as a field helmet under a cover, so the guy went without them. ???? Who knows. Price? Yeah, always a topic for discussion, but we've nobody but ourselves to blame, but like you, I don't spend Mega Bucks on a helmet I'm not sure of. Parts helmet? Maybe. Restored? I know we all like to do our own 'work', so for me that's a mark against it as well. I'd have preferred it dusty and a bit bent.
