Bavarian Officer Pickelhaube by Depaheg Patent, recent woodwork find

Here's a Bavarian Officer Pickelhaube I acquired recently from a family.

Maker marked "Depaheg Patent" on leather sweatband. Black fiber body is in good shape.

A mouse? made a hole on one side of the silk head liner.

I believe the helmet was dropped on the spike at one time, as the very tip of the spike is dented in a bit, and the spike now stands at a bit of an angle on the top of the helmet.

Best Wishes,

Alan

Lovely helmet, well worth having Dr. Haube fix that liner for you? I just fixed a 'leaning' spike with just gentle thumb pressure on the underside of the base, I recommend it.

Yes I have straightened few spikes in my day with a little pressure in the right spot. However, there have been a couple that resisted my efforts.
