Bavarian Reserve Infantry Officer

Here is my latest purchase, a Model 1886 Bavarian Reserve Infantry Officer Pickelhaube. This helmet was manufactured prior to 20 February 1914 because it still retains the flat infantry chinscales. The Wappen is the 1914 type. The spike unscrews which may help me in identifying which unit it came from.

The interior has suffered a little on one side. Apparently a mouse needed some nesting material.

The Wappen is excellent and retains much of it's original gilding, though somewhat darkened.

Overall I'm extremely pleased with this latest addition.

Thats a nice one
Is that the owners name written at the rear visor

Jonas

I believe so. It says "C. Falkenbarker" and below that is written "BRIh"; no idea what that means.

Congrats John....you are lucky that our resident crazy Bavarian "James L" did not get his hands on it first! :thumb up:

The original post has been updated using Imgur.com.

This is an experiment using my third, and hopefully last, photo sharing site.

John,

if I may offer an opinion on the name, I think it more likely to be Fallenbacher or even Faltenbacher. Of the two, Leutnant d.R. Karl Fallenbacher of 12. Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment is perhaps a likely contender.

John: Hopefully this imgur is your last picture host. I am having absolutely no problem with SmugMug. You can even size your pics on the site before posting here on the forum.

Been using Picorator with no problem until now, not sure what is going on with them?

Just tired to join Smugmug, they want me to pay $4.00 a month, is this what you all did?

Picorator seems to have dropped dead all of a sudden. I tried to contact them twice but the e-mail delivery failed. I looked at other sites, AGAIN, and even joined a couple. I found:
Shutterfly charges $18.00 for a year to a newcomer, but they don't allow posting on a forum.
ImageShack also charges after 30 days and I noticed several pop-ups when signing up. I don't want that photobucket nightmare again.
Imgur.com is free, seems very easy to use, has editing capability (haven't tried it yet), and lists the forum link when you open the photo. I like it so far, but I guess we'll have to see.

John :)

One additional note: I noticed that the photos in this post look fuzzy. I don't think that they were that bad originally. I will discover over time if this has something to do with the new site.
This may also be due to these photos being sized and stored on photobucket, then downloaded to my computer, then placed in picorator, then put on my computer, then resized in paint, then added to Imgur, then re-posted.
Why shouldn't the photos be blurry --- at this point so am I.

Great. Thanks Glenn! It's a place to start.
