I wanted to get your opinions on this helmet I picked up. So what do you think, M18? I'm not too knowledgable on the differences. Thanks.

Its a M18 as the chinstreap is directly connected to the liner.

Mark is E.T. 64 = Eisenhüttenwerke in Thale headsize 64

My personal opinion is that this helmet is not Wo1 but from the Freikorps period after 1918 til 1923
Because the Reichswehr issued on 8 july 1921 a new helmet insignia that does not have a curve on top

Hi, I once saw a helmet with a similar insignia (although tilted and without the curve) contributed to the Freikorps Werdenfels. A nice piece, maybe you can find a specialized collector who can identify it more precisely at the Great War Forum.

This helmet has been in my family since the 1950's. My uncle picked it up in Munich when they were stationed there. Also have a Danish, Czech, French WWII, and German Police M35. Got them all from an old trunk. Thanks for all the info from everyone.

Hello

It's a stahlhelm mle 1918 but it is used in the Bayern's Reichwehr after 1921 .

The size is 64.

Best regards

Is this actually on the right side of the helmet? Or is the photo reversed? Or are there a shield on each side?

The Reichwehr had the shields in state colors mounted on the left side of the helmet from 1923 -1933. The shields were below the lugs.

If this helmet has only a shield on the right side, I think George is correct and this example is Einwohnerwehr or Freikorps 1919-1920.

I am afraid I have not gotten anything definitive. The word I got from a friend in Bavaria, is that it is not Reichwehr, as the shield is too large and in the wrong place.

And he agreed that it could be the Einwohnerwehr Bayern or a Freikorps helmet.

Sorry I couldn't get a more definitive answer for you.
