Bavarians

I've had a few Bavarian postcards arrive in recent weeks and have decided to put together a small thread to show off what I believe to be one of the nicest of all the helmet plates.

So many things to talk about in these pictures. The last one is the showstopper. Now that is a rare bird. I do not have something like that I don't think. On the third picture you should consider some close-ups of the spikes. Many different types. The first picture is of course a real keeper. If I didn't have something in the pipeline that put this to shame I would have acute postcard envy. However,…… Something is on the way…… What you are doing for Bavaria I will do for yet another kingdom and this one…… Before the 1866 war!

Where can I get tickets for a front row seat?

I see a mix of rounded and squared visors as well....

Great pics !
The one of Antwerpen is nice (occupied Belgium !).
And of course my all time favorite: The Ulan !

Thx,
Francis

Difficult to read:
the 'Antwerpen' picture: 'Kaporalschaft'
Francis

Not at all. Just click on the image and choose original size and you will be able to read it just fine :D

"1.b. Landw. Inf. Reg. 12 Komp. V Korpralschaft".

the studio portrait is also cool. It really makes you think about helmets as photography props once again. Old-style helmet plate, the wrong plume. Nice group of photos!

Wappen is correct up to 1914. Wrong plume?
