Belgian shell

I bought this piece last weekend on a small militaria fair. This piece should date from just before ww1. Some people said it was an experimental shell while other said the piece had instructional purpuses

The only marking is "R.10".

Nice item, I think the instruction side may be right as the base flange would not allow the breech to shut, also the shell would be steel. interesting piece, I have not seen one like that before.

I suppose we are talking about the monthly show at the Canada along the Menin road.
Last time I was there a lady brought like 5 or 6 helmets ,but they did not meet with my standards ;no regimental marks ,deformed ,chinstrap missing and so on.
However it’s all about being there at the right moment in time, it takes one collector to clear out and bang! You could strike the deal of a lifetime. :)
By the way, the "Treasurehunt" dealer is there too, so if there is anything you like on his website ,get in contact with him and he will bring it to the show.

This month at the militariashow i was Lucky, i bought a complete French m2 gasmask with the carrying bag for €200. An older gentlemen was selling the gasmask because his wife didn't wanted it in the house. He offered it first to another collector but he already had a few examples in his collection. So he told the seller i would be interested in buying the mask.

I was very quick to pay the seller.

It's like Spiker said, it's all about being at the right place at the right time.
