Booking Rooms for 2026 S.O.S. @ Louisville in January

Hello,

I want to give everyone a "head's up" about the possibility of a tight hotel situation for next year's S.O.S. which has been moved up to the end of January, 2026.

I got a "head's up" this afternoon from James, that the hotels are booking up very fast, and many of them are much more expensive than last year. James said that he asked a hotel what is going on in town that week, and he was told that the National Farm Show is booked for that same week, as well as the Gun Show. I checked the event schedule for the KY Expo Center, and right now it looks like the National Farm Show is scheduled for February 11, 12, 13, as would be normal for them. I do not know if that schedule is accurate for them or not. And the Gun Show as of this writing, is Not on the current Expo calendar schedule for the same weekend as the S.O.S. in 2026. I don't know if that is subject to change or not, or how accurate the KY Expo Center Event Calendar is or not.

I did note that the Expo Center event schedule has the S.O.S. and a Circus booked for that week. Nothing else was on the calendar yet, for that week, as of today's writing here.

Regardless of whether or not that National Farm Show, or the Gun Show will be the same weekend as the 2026 S.O.S, I booked a room this afternoon, at a reasonable rate, at a hotel I've stayed at before. There were only 6-rooms available at the time of making my reservation.

Best Wishes,

Alan

Yes, Alan is correct, I was told National Farm show, but that may not be correct, but either way, rooms at the hotel we usually stay at were almost 3 times the price of last year, and only had a few rooms left, I started to look around, prices are high and many are sold out already. Book now while you can.

Crown, my preferred, is available according to my search engine and I have some discount so works out took be around $170 per room per nite including taxes

The Farm Machinery Show is two weeks later. That takes over the whole building, the arena and has events downtown I believe. It is possible (even likely) that the hotels are still booked because of the set up for the Farm Machinery Show. That event gets 300,000 attendees and likely takes two plus weeks to set up

I've been staying in Shepherdsville, about 20 miles south of Louisville. Nicer hotels for the same price or less. It also doesn't have the degenerate crowd that you find near the cheap hotels by the Expo Center.

Another way is book airbnb and invite some friends to stay together. I am sure it will be fun. 😀
I've had other friends do that they've said NEVER AGAIN in Louisville. One house was in a truly bad neighborhood and the other place was dirty. Those with nice houses in Louisville don't go the Airbnb route too much.

Oh I didn't know that. The only airbnb I stayed before is in Japan and they are lovely.
