The seller writes that the mismatch between the detachable mortarboard and brass metal fittings is explained by the fact that this is a private purchase helmet. This is not correct. In 1915, the first enlisted Tschapkas with detachable tops bore the original white or yellow metal fittings, till the April AKO that imposed the gray trim. Now, this still may be a private purchase helmet; I do not know if eigentum/extra Tschapkas of this model were made. One notices that the hook for the Fangschnurr is officer-style, which may actually suggest a private purchase. A pity that the seller did not provide better quality and closer pictures.
 
The eigentum/extra Tschapka description didn't sound right to me, but the old saying about "the more I know, the less I know" was ringing in my ears.

The square-tongued liner seems odd, too.
