British Shell Dressing

There was a thread awhile back on these. This is the one that I have which ironically was found in a WW2 first aid kit that a friend of mine picked up at another garage sale. The obvious conclusion is that the Canadian Army was still using WW1 kit during WW2...I guess a shell dressing is a shell dressing no matter when it was manufactured so why throw it out? This one is dated 1916.

A couple of photos showing the First Aid kit itself. The Red cross on the top of the box was hand drawn and painted obviously.

The interior with lots of bandages...good to know that that famous US "Family Company" was doing its bit for the war effort. RCAMC stands for Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps.

Thanks Brian.

It'd be interesting to see the condition of the bandage itself, although I'm not for a second suggesting you open the packaging.

Hi Brett, this entire kit is like a time capsule. Nothing has been opened and everything is in the original packaging as you can see. This kit was given as payment for me helping my friend sell a WW2 police helmet which he also picked up from a civilian living in a small town about 30 klicks from here. The helmet went back to Germany and I handled the money transfer through my paypal account. The stuff is rare but it is still out there! Brian

That is a nice kit ,and After paying alot of canuck and US bucks ,it aint cheap.
They recycled alot ,though the bandage is a rare date and I very rarely see these dated so early.
These med kits come in various sizes and i have not found a reference yet.
