I refuse to cry, sniff, but I can appreciate something grand when I see it. Bruno, has it been recently acquired?

Chas.

Thanks to all. I was not expecting to make anybody cry!! No Chas, I have been owning it for a long time. It is still uncleaned, as I got it; I have not even undone the chinscales. It is 100% original in the smallest detail. It was originally offered by a US family to an antique dealer, in payment of a furniture appraisal he made for them. He sold it to me as a "prussian officer helmet".
Does anybody on the forum have one? These helmets are amazingly rare, while there were two regiments of Mecklemburg Dragoner. I have seen only two others, one at the Fort de la Pompelle and the other one in a big French collection. That one was for sale, about 8 years ago, for almost $ 5000,00! And its condition was less than everage...
Cheers,
Bruno

Hello,
One of the most beautiful trooper's helmet... \:D/ =D>
I only saw one like this, in an old french collection, that was sold in 1975. The one in "La pompelle" is not so good...
I was at this time a poor student... ](*,)
Now, I am old... And afraid, never to find this 18 DR helmet...

Best regards

Thank you for sharing with us Bruno. I have never seen one of these before! One of the "Pickelhaube Grails"!! Brian
