It's easy for a child to upstage an adult in a photo, but nothing like an under enthused expression to REALLY give your kid the edge! :P

It was common back then for the 'social elite' to dress boys as girls (long hair and all) until they were three or four. Early photos of FDR show the same thing. So... can you imagine Kaiser Bill in a dress as a toddler? Ohhhh man!

Actually, there is an early pic of Kaiser Bill in such garb shown on the PBS video series the Great War vol 1
 
That was indeed common practice in ancient times... I remember :D my parents dressed me up (i.e. in a similar white dress) for my Baptism. Does that make me Royalty? :P

Maybe a royal pain as an infant! :P But I think most kids have a baptismal dress, it was a fad back then to dress boys as girls for the first few years of their lives... maybe to console the moms who'd have to put up with them playing soldier for the rest of their lives! :)
