It depends, If you like the helmet you can always say it was refurbished "during" wartime 1916 from older helmets.

I've seen so much masterful work with restitching that IMO its up to the buyer.

If your happy that is really all that matters that is until you go and to sell it. I find that helmets that don't need any explanation are more desirable and command a higher price.

For the record I like that helmet and if it sells cheap I would buy it. I wouldn't lose sleep over the dates and stamps, at least it has them most don't
 
That spike on the helmet is also lighter than the rest I think it’s a reproduction therefore I will not be bidding on this helmet. A really nice Pickelhaube came on eBay for $400 it was a M1915 with no chinstrap or cockades but for that price it was good and someone b
