Can anyone identify my great-grandfather’s uniform and cap badge? WW1 era

I am researching my family history and would really appreciate your help.


This is my great-grandfather:


Wilhelm Carl Peinemann Schloemer


Family tradition says he was born in or near Goslar, Lower Saxony, Germany. He later emigrated to Mexico, married in Aguascalientes, became a Mexican citizen, and renounced his German citizenship.


We believe this photograph was taken around the time of World War I.


I am especially trying to identify:

• the cap badge
• the uniform
• whether this belonged to the military, a cadet academy, railways, or another organization.

Any information, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
