I recently got handed down a leather Pickelhaube from my great grandfather. He never explained what it’s origins were other than it was passed down to him. I did a little research but can’t seem to find a whole lot about it. If someone can help it would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I was kind of thinking that by the lack of information i could find on it. But what are some red flags on it if you don’t mind me asking?
The size of the chin scales compared to the rosettes, the size of the stitching on the front visor, as well as the strange enameled cross on the center of the Baden griffin and the detail on it. In addition, the liner is very "floppy" and the spine has a strange tang that completes the wrap-around of the rear visor. Also, the spike is a very bad m15 style base (in gold) that is missing the spike.

The better question would be "Is there anything right with it?" Just as Louis very aptly pointed out, it's 100% fake. Just to be clear, the wappen is a very crude fake. It is poorly manufactured. All the metal pieces suffer from the same issue. If you google "Baden pickelhaube" you will find lots of examples to study and judge for yourself to see what we mean.

As pointed out, the helmet is a fake. There are cases where these reproductions are used by reenactors or for used as movie props.
