CANADA TO UNITED STATES SHIPPING DELAYS

Hello all,

Just a point of information regarding the posting/shipping of items through Canada Post to the United States, it appears beginning March 3rd, 2025, are experiencing a bit of a delay crossing the border. Items appear to be held on the Canadian side of the boarder with the message "Delivery May Be Delayed Due to Public Authority Canada" appearing on the Canada Post tracking website. I personally have an item currently being held, effective the above date, after processing through a Canada Post facility at Calgary, Alberta, Canada at that same facility.

Cheers,

David

Hello all.

It appears the two days pause in Canada Post packages moving into the US has been suspended as items seem to be moving again.

Cheers,

David

My wife's friend just did a day trip to the US a couple days ago. The Border Services Agent on the Canada side told her "soon" there would be a $60 charge on every $100 spent in the US and brought back. Probably the tariff and tax and processing fees. No offense to my US friends, I still love the US, but this crazy trade war between the US and Canada is going to hurt both sides and for what real gain I cannot see. I imagine some rules like this will also apply to items mailed fomo the US to Canada. I hope "someone" sees sense before this is totally out of hand.

WOW so Canada is putting a 60% charge on goods brought into Canada from the USA.

That's really not good.

This is a small but perfect example of how tariffs really work. The Canadian bought items in the US and was charged a tariff when she crossed the border back into her country. The Canadian paid, not the Americans. The reverse is true now for anything bought by the US from Canada, Mexico or China, the American importer, pays the duties in order to bring it into the US. If we are talking Walmart, then the duty cost is passed on to the customer. This is economics 101, no one wins in a trade war. However, let's get back to pickelhauben!

I've had a shipment from Germany sitting in Frankfurt at DHL for two weeks waiting for more inspection.

What will be the shipping costs if you want to send from the US to Europe?
That depends on the item, and weight of the package, just like here in Europe. I bought 2 pairs of original kokarden, the shipping cost for those was $46. A helmet will be more expensive to send.

true but now with trump's proposals,

Indeed, I pride myself on the fact that this forum unlike others, has not devolved into petty squabbles. There is no need for us to go there. I did have an email from good old Ebay saying that anything valued at $800 or less wouldn't be taxed but who knows??

Oof. I feel you - DHL can be maddeningly slow getting across the pond. It's almost worse these days having tracking info online, since obsessively checking for non-existent movement can be stressful (as my wife has reminded me more than once).
