So, I was at an antique store today and saw this CDV in a case. I do run across them from time-to-time and if the price is right, I will buy them. I looked up close at it to see if I could make out a Pickelhaube and to my surprise, I saw a very old pattern! The helmet in the photo appears to have M1842 features such as eagle and the chinstrap mounts, just shortened. Is this an M1857 or something just prior?
