chinstrap

Hi everyone,

What's up with this chinstrap? Both the leather and the metal look very battered.
Maybe it's just the pictures but I've not seen this on chinstraps before.

Also notice the left leg and the "F" on his chest as well as some other places. Looks like the metal corroded and was repainted.
Any thoughts?

I would pass on that one, just too many questions.

Looking quickly, I'd say the strap hardware and the plate were dug up at some point and refinished. Zoom in on that Eagle and you can see clear signs of corrosion as well.

The fittings had been exposed to high temperatures during the fire.Such states of objects were usually found in the cellars of destroyed houses or magnate mansions.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmFlm32joPk&list=UULF5UZH1wHWripNbpjyncypmg&index=130
