Chromed?

Am I seeing this wrong, or did somebody chrome this? I don't think enlisted helmets were plated.... right?

Yes, chromed...something I've seen a few times before with these helmets! Likely done by a biker.

stay away from chromed helmets...........it is very difficult to remove it...trust me!!!

Yeah, pretty much does wreck the helmet. If I still had my Harley, it would be fun to ride around with.

My knowledge of plating is limited, but I don't see how you can plate just the outside of the helmet.

Maybe it's not chromed --- just polished within an inch of it's life.
A buffing wheel and some jewelers rouge might have this effect.

John, I think it would have a deeper 'gray' hue to it. Of course, it's hard to tell from photos. Also, the overspray on the inside looks like chroming.
