Any feelings on this colonial helmet on eBay.de?

Seems to me that it would be pretty easy to throw on a cockade on any plain pith helmet, but what do I know.

My question about the eBay helmet is why does it have a Prussian cockade? Shouldn't the cockade be for Imperial Germany?

I have an American pith helmet from the Spanish American War era, and this is the style made in England and bought the US Army. It looks really similar. Different style liner, but otherwise from the outside it seems almost exactly the same!

Well, it's being offered by a reputable seller.
Who is Ulan9? I had him mistaken for a seller that we had discussed earler who sold questionable helmets.

I believe this is a US helmet. At first glance I thought the rear visor was much longer then on the US one like Peter photographed, which it is. But...the US helmets came in a variety of styles and colors and sure enough, I have one with the long rear visor and the same lining. I also agree it should have a National kokarde. Another note on this helmet. Under the cloth is cork. If the cork is damaged it starts to crumble and there is no method I have found to adequately fix them. Thus, damaged US cork helmets are almost worthless. Add a kokarde and it becomes more desirable. The top air vent is also missing. I have several, but good luck finding them. Corky

OK, now I see that you were being ironic. At first I didn't realize... so I thought maybe the helmet was good.

So I do think someone took a Prussian cockade (possibly repro) and is trying to pass this off as a colonial helmet. Shame. I'd love one too!

Good morning !

About this tropical helmet, my personal point of view is: don't buy it.
In my opinion, such a helmet should be stamped at least...and there are a lot of tropical helmets (often from civilian confection) which could be easely converted to "German helmets".
