Could you help me with indentification of this star? JR115

I have 8 hessian helmets with unscrewable spikes and two of them, a JR115 and a Reserve JR117, have this kind of spike.

I must add that my JR115 helmet pictured here has exactly the same maker stamp and date as R1's helmet (I had also posted this mark on the forum some time ago). Still, they have different spikes...
When I found this helmet it had probably been untouched since the war (I have pictures somewhere). However, the spike had been grossly welded to its basis. I wonder why. A friend of mine took time but managed to get rid of that blackened pewter, which is now completely gone.

Last but not least: I recently found another JR115 helmet (EM) in attic condition. Condition is quite good though, but it is missing the star and scroll... I am therefore looking for these parts.
Thank you in advance to anybody who could help.

Excellent JR 92 a very beautiful piece!! Bruno, am I correct that your Hessen JR117 is an OR's helme, the same as your 115? The fittings on my 115 looked like they had been dipped in tobacco juice when I got it...a dirty brown colour. Brian

Brian, I have a reserve JR117 EM helmet (shown previously on the forum) that has the same spike as my JR115. I also have a JR117 officer helmet that has the "classic" spike.
