Cover for „Grenadiers-Mütze“

Has anybody ever seen a cover for a Grenadier-Mütze?
The caps were only worn for parades, right? Or was this cover only used to protect the surface in the storrage? But why was it then stamped?

Sandy
I have owned a couple of these in my collection .
I still have one of them
I have always called these "foul weather " covers
In other words if it were to mist or rain
they would put them over the miters
this is the same material as the foul weather covers
for the regimental flags
IMO the Kammer stamp means the cover belongs to the Kammer
and would be returned when the soldiers service is over
so that it could be reissued
the one that refer to on EBay is well marked
and very nice
right now it is a bargain
Here is cover , you can see the soldiers name and unit tag
is sewn on the outside Miter cover .jpgmiter cover 2 .jpg

Great collection (y)

Just curious as to your opinion as to why the one on Ebay would also show signs of a name and unit tag if it was the property of the Kammer ?

Maybe it was issued to a specific member of the unit at a later date after already having having the Kammer stamp.

All the best John
