It is not correct for a German Kurassiere helmetHi,
Below are some images (unfortunately of poor quality) of a M1889/94 trooper spiked helmet from the Prussian Cuirassier regiments Nr.3 to 5 and 7 and 8.
Can you identify the chinstrap which seems to be an addition?
Thanks

I agree with you. It looks like the chinstrap of a French Army light cavalry shako (see the enclosed image). It is not correct for a German Kurassiere helmet

I agree with you Clovis.I agree with Steve.
That chinstrap isn't even German.
Your helmet with the screw chinstrap with split head and rosette, would be an M1889 (visor like that of a cap).
With 2 post-sides and the M1894 chinstrap would then be an M89/94.
Yes it's a great possibility. Thanks for your contribution Peter.I am pretty sure it is a British Home Service or Guard Helmet chinstrap. Like on mine. But could be that French one as well.
The only photos I have in my archives:Does anyone have in their collection or documentation a high resolution image of a cavalryman (not an officer) of the KR6 wearing a M67 pickelhaube?
The one for the Shako is lower, because the Shako is lighter and lower than the helmet.Je suis presque sûr qu'il s'agit d'une jugulaire de casque de service ou de garde britannique. Comme sur la mienne. Mais cela pourrait aussi être celle de la France.
Good observation. The one for the Shako is lower, because the Shako is lighter and lower than the helmet.
What a beautiful helmet!!!The only photos I have in my archives:
M67 KR6. In fact, it's an Extra-Helm still used by a Fähnrich, after 1897.
But apart from the too-high tip and the Reichskokarde, everything else is in order (if Landkokarde on the right-hand side, without the nickel silver hoop). View attachment 51948View attachment 51949View attachment 51950

Thanks Jeff, but this helmet isn't mine, I recorded these photos, to show the difference (visor still with 2 steps) between the Eigentum-Extra-Helm shells of the cuirassiers, after the simple round visor of the 1889 “Kammer” model.Le tien est un magnifique exemple ! Merci de le partager.
Which means it’s out there somewhere. Beautiful pristine KR6. The owner is fortunate.//Thanks Jeff, but this helmet isn't mine, //
My thoughts exactly!Which means it’s out there somewhere. Beautiful pristine KR6. The owner is fortunate.
