Dang good fake

The only problems I see (if they are problems at all) are the stitching on the rear seam of the liner is nicer than I'm used to seeing, and the corrosion on the spike backing plate looks severe.
If the fakes are getting this good, it's time to throw in the towel.

Look at that wappen! Look at the condition of the spike and base compared to the shell age. The overly rusted inside base plate. The rivets that aren't quite right. The overly aged outside of the shell - the too many crinckles in the front visor brass Just all adds up to a very good fake to me.

And it's in England.

Maybe I'm paranoid.

I can see the objection to the plate, somebody soldered a new orb and claw onto it from a low quality repro. Probably almost melted the cheap thing when he tried to solder it. All in all, a very low value parts helmet (and I don't even like the look of the parts!). I'm sure it will become some poor chap's pride and joy. :(

My first impression was that this one is ok. However, after closer inspection I agree wit Adler that the parts don't match the leather helmet [-X

It looks to me like this one was made of genuine parts, some of which were restored/painted like the exterior leather shell. The disc spike base could be a field find for instance.

But it's not a total 'fake' per se then. It's horrible for sure but the basic shell looks original (someones worked on the damage area) and so does most of the metalwork apart from the obvious. Sure it's put together but it's not what I'd call a 'fake'. Too much money for what it is nevertheless…..

And there's much better composites out there than this.

$800 CN for that is ridiculous! That support disc definitely does not match the quality of the other fittings. God only knows what you would find if took the fittings off.
