I didn't see that the first of helmets from Dave Powers' massive collection of helmets went to auction this month. Some rare and unique pieces. I'm kind of glad I didn't know about this in advance!

Being an ex-helmet guy I was watching it pretty closely. Was tempted to get in on the action but somehow some self discipline crept into my brain and I watched from the sidelines! Some incredibly rare pieces from his collection.

I wasn't aware of the sale... so I didn't buy anything. There were some very beautiful pieces that I could have been tempted by. That will be for another time.

I think there are a lot of collectors out there who keep to themselves / don’t participate in forums.

And so it is. I know 2 collectors here in The Netherlands with extensive collections, who know about our forum, but do not contribute here.

That's right, I know a few of them too, and with beautiful collections, but they also know about this forum but don't look at it. Sometimes it's strange that at fairs (Belgium) you see many looking and sharing their knowledge as if they are true connoisseurs who were born with a pickelhaube in their belly. Unfortunately, I know that they are regularly wrong in their words sometimes and that they could still learn a thing or two about pickelhaubes here.
