Did a display of my imperial German collection for the kids at my work!

Hello all! Thought I’d share something neat with you guys that I had the pleasure to host!

My Boss allowed me to bring in my collection to show the kids at my work, I brought in everything minus the Sabre and bayonet (obviously 😂)

It was a great time, the kids adored it as did much of the other staff!

The kids did very well with keeping their hands to themselves and observing from afar, no pieces damaged or broken, touched or altered. Very proud of them!

They were incredibly fascinated and had loads of questions! One kid said he wanted to be like me when he grew up and collect!

All in all, a great experience, I’ll share the photos here!

Thank you so much Zeb, that means so much to me!

All of you make this possible and keep my passion for this burning, it’s my pleasure to share!

I can’t thank you all enough for everything you guys do for me and other younger collectors! 😊

Very nice thing to do. The kids see history and they are much more likely to take an interest in it.

I used to get booked to do historical talks in schools on WW1 - 2 for staff and students, often in larger assembly rooms, and would bring in many items from deactivated weapons to helmets to uniforms and everything in between that the students could handle and put on. (They were not the prime items in my collection of course). I needed to bring as assistant as I brought a pickup truck full.

The funniest comment - question I ever had was from a Grade 12 student if we could take the (deactivated) MG42 on its lafette mount with the belt of live ammo feeding into it out to the soccer field and fire it. I just told him to rip a bedsheet in half and that’s what it sounded like.

I was always afraid that the SWAT team would be paying an unannounced visit during those talks.

Very, Very Good, it makes me right happy to see kids take an interest in such things.
This is something I would be weary, but proud to be doing. Well Done Friend, well done.

Wow that’s really amazing!

I always loved it when vets or teachers would bring in pieces to share with us, I always loved hearing about their collections and their stories. I really appreciate that you did this for so many kids like myself!

It’s people like you who inspired my love and passion for this, so thank you so much!

Glad the swat never came either 😅

Show and tell now that takes me way back Steve.

I remember that in kindergarten. I used to walk to school and remember taking bayonets and US grenades bought from Sunny's Surplus or given to me by dad or my uncles to school.

Can you imagine what would happen to parents and children in today's world If a kid showed up for show and tell with a bayonet ??

Oddly enough nobody ever thought twice or was hurt in any way when the teacher passed it around for everyone to see

Approximately 50 years ago I took a recent Christmas present to school when I was in the 6th grade, for the "show and tell" time. The item was a replica U.S. Civil War blackpowder rifle, a .58 caliber Zouave muzzle loading rifle. Of course I had received permission to bring it to school, before that day. I explained to my classmates how it would be loaded and fired with the percussion cap system, without actually loading it in school.

Steve, I believe you 100% because I lived it and without going off on a tangent, I will just say times they are a changing
