Did someone on the forum get the Bavarian Generals helmet on Ebay?

I planned on bidding on it but was disappointed to see that it was “ended by the seller due to an error in the listing”. This likely means that someone contacted the seller and offered what the seller believed to be an acceptable offer or that someone told the seller it was extremely rare and the seller chose to research the value more. It definitely needed a complete overhaul and parts replaced, but would have been a great restoration project.

oh he cancelled all our bids and relisted it at $2000 buy it now and it was gone before I found out. I am sure it was a planned buy it now with someone.
 
I don't think it had a generals spike though. Was a staff officer helmet, I think.

I did like the patina though.

I was interested to see how much it would fetch. I was the high bidder before it was cancelled. It did cross my mind to offer him a wedge due to the fact most the stuff he sells fetches minimal amounts and a big pile of cash would turn his head, but I knew you lot would be bidding and I could take it or leave it, also Brians got enough work to be going on with! I saw this one as well, but when I looked at it a second time it had sold... I have seen this happen before as well. Good deal for whoever got it.
 
I was watching it as well, someone definitely convinced them that it would be better to end the auction early and sell it to them.

I had big plans for that Helmet. 🤔🥲

Oh well guess neither them nor us will ever know if that was a good decision :unsure::ROFLMAO::LOL:
