Take a look at his other auctions.....did this seller tear apart this pickelhaube to sell the pieces??

If its an original, I think that's a crummy thing to do.

I do not know if he did or not, but this process is more common then you think.

I know of a couple Ebay sellers that do this, like it or not, they often make more money by doing this.

I would never do it...

Yup, it's all about money! I've contacted sellers about this and they've said, :bootyshake: :bootyshake: So, they're off of my list as potential people to buy from.

Yes, a couple of years ago a good friend of mine had a nice Baden e.m. in brass w/original chinstrap but no kokardes, that he offered to me for $500, and I was stupid & turned it down.

He ended up parting it out for something like $940 on fleabay. Talk about stupid on my part..... ](*,)

All the Best,

Alan

P.S. My friend who had the Baden helmet a couple of years ago that I should have bought lives in Iowa. The person who has the current Baden helmet which has discussion on here is not the same person, and I do not know who the eBay seller "1956Artist" is.

Yes, this seller is the same seller "1956artist" who is also selling the 109th helmet currently on eBay. It does look like he broke this Bavarian officer helmet up to sell as "parts".

All the Best,

Alan

Although I tend to agree with you guys, another possiblity could be that he actually bought these parts thinking they would fit his Bavarian shell and it turned out they didn't?? This would justify his having the "tombac" shell... :-k

Well, if he bought that shell, then he probably doesn't know much about helmets. As far as I can see, it's a copper repro that you see very often on ebay. The eagle looks 'nice', but those can be purchased from Eastern Germany and is probably also a repro. It really PISSES ME OFF when people do this... parting out otherwise good helmets.

:x Ron

I would not be surprised if this is another example of butchering a pickelhaube to sell the parts separately :x

If its an original, I think that's a crummy thing to do.

The seller said the Bavarian officer spikebase didn't quite match up to the Bav. officer shell.

Hmmm...there's probably a pointless shell around here somewhere that might fit that spike, though. :-k
