Very interesting:
Seen in
-J-L. Larcade Volume II - Chapter 8- page 139
And:
-in this new book "Adjutanten und Haustruppen"; Die Preußische Leibgendarmerie; page 340,
Gefreiter Karl FUß.
-the caption with the Larcade photograph: [showing Gefreiter Karl FUß wearing the Muster/Pattern 1889 helmet. Parade].
My translation:
"Gefreiter Karl-Friedrich FUß
2. Zug (Platoon) of the Leib-Gendarmerie.
He was awarded the Eiserne Kreuz 2.Klasse.
As the 2. Zug Leib-Gendarmen was disbanded at the Mobilmachung; he could never had earned this award within this unit.
The only possibility is: -Gefreiter Fuss rejoined his parent-unit at the Mobilmachung in August 1914.
Earning his award within this unit. Borrowing a Leib-Gendarm Helm (the Waffenrock was certainlyhis) to have this picture taken after the awarding.
Karl-Friedrich Fuss fell; September 5th 1918 - in the ranks of the 7.KürassierRegiment-"
“Im Kampfe gefallen”. “Fallen in combat”.
*the attached photograph: original
from the J-L. LARCADE Collection.
-used in Volume II-Page 139.
Thank you for letting me know, that's very interesting! I'm still waiting for my copy. I wonder if the photo in the book was the exact same one as mine? The one with me has many scratches unfortunately. (Side Q: are there photos of Leibgendarmerie 2. Zug officers in Gala uniform?)
I appreciate your reply for the Bureauvorsteher beim Großen Generalstab! It helps a lot, sorry I missed it earlier.
the image of Feldwebel-Sergeant Schmidt appears to be scratch free, so presumably another copy.
There is one relatively small image of a 2. Zug officer in Gala uniform. Additionally, there are colour photos of an original officers' Galarock and hat.
