Die alten Fahnen des 2. Inf.-Regiments Nr. 77

Today in the Deutsches Historisches Museum only their "Fahnenstange"and "Fahnenspitze" remain, the fabrics have disappeared.

Great old postcard
I collect photos and postcards of flags
I R 77 Batls I ; II and III have the 1870 Iron Cross pole tops
IV Batl a cyphered pole top

I think that these flags were stored by the U S Army at the end of WWII
While in storage some of the G I 's removed the flags from the pole
and brought them back to the USA
Note the battle damage to the 1870 Iron Cross pole top of Batl. I
It appears that Batl III not only the flag was taken
but the 1870 Iron Cross pole top also
the unit rings remain
otherwise they could not I D the poles
